What it is
Because your life needs a soundtrack, and because your life is richer and more rewarding when that soundtrack reflects where you live, the UMS is here.
This year's 7th annual Denver Post Underground Music Showcase will spotlight more than 70 bands, a dozen DJs and a collective of comedians and emcees who will help put all of the mind-blowing entertainment in perspective. Everything at the UMS is local, as in, all the talent is from Colorado. Most of the musicians live in and around Denver, but we have some Boulder and mountain representation, too. Even this website was built in Park Hill, and our posters came out of a design shop on South Broadway. There is no better manifestation of Colorado music and artistic talent. And while the UMS is presented by The Denver Post, it's run mostly by volunteers with the generous help of a few sponsors, some of whom are listed below.
We've grown this year, and we now occupy more than a dozen creative spaces along South Broadway and Lincoln - including multiple rock clubs, pub patios, stores, warehouses, pool halls, skate shops and taverns that will be abuzz with live music on Aug. 11, 2007. The UMS is Denver's own South by Southwest, as everything is within walking distance. And this year, the festival is more accessible to all-ages crowds with six all-ages stages.

Wayward Panties? We’re blushing!
The fine ladies – and we do mean fine – at Wayward Panties have been giving the UMS a ton of love recently.
They’ve written stories on some of the solo performers, the venues and their favorite bands playing on Saturday.
Today’s post is Tiffany interviewing me about this year’s UMS and how it evolved from us latching ourselves onto a 16 Horsepower show seven years ago.... (Read More)
