Denver Post Underground Music Showcase has great local music from Denver Colorado.

The UMS joins the AM revolution!

So, there are really two parts of the UMS.
There’s the big music festival, and there’s also the Underground Music Poll, which ranks the local bands every year. Every year, we at The Post team up with our longtime friends and sponsors, Radio 1190, to unveil the poll’s Top 20 on the station’s killer all-locals program, The Local Shakedown, a couple days before the section hits newstands.

So here are the details. The Post’s Ricardo Baca and John Wenzel will be guest hosting The Local Shakedown this Friday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. mountain standard time, on 1190 am (or radio1190.org). We’ll start with the band that ranked 20th in this year’s poll. (Hint: They’re one of my favorite bands in Denver, and I’m actually going to see them again this weekend!) And we’ll count down the poll to No. 1.
The Local Shakedown is already the best thing on Denver/Boulder radio, and while us guys are hardly great to listen to, the music that we’ll be playing is brilliant – and so count on two hours of bliss.
Tune in. Call us at the station. Tape it. Live it. And then you can buy the paper on Sunday Aug. 5 (or see denverpost.com/music) for the full results and coverage, including a list of all the voters.
And get ready for the UMS, which is going to be so frigging great I can hardly stand myself!
